Milestone 1
A project-team was founded and potential sites for the planned demonstrator projects were discussed. The first choice, a demonstrator in Pori (Finland), turned out to be inappropriate as the site has very special conditions which cannot be used to gain more general data. Besides, some of the data and pre-conditions for a demonstrator at this location would be hard to get/to achieve. In the end of the first milestone two other sites, in Sweden and Norway, were under discussion - a potential third site in the Baltic republics will depend on the approval of the relevant PHARE-application. The first versions of experience Reports were prepared.Milestone 2
The telematic-based communication within the WP4-team was tested successfully. Measurement sites were found in Norway and Lithuania - the precise timetable and carrying out will depend on the detailed planning and the co-operation of the relevant authorities. An integration of some universities has been initiated so that the measurements can be done as a future-expert-training. The basic demands and technical specifications of the needed measurement equipment were defined. First suppliers and companies were asked for offers.Three studies were initiated: "Experience report: Windpower in the BSR", "Assessment of Optimized Use of Wind Park Potentials" and "Technical Needs for Used Wind Turbines" - short proposals and pre-studies were presented on the WP3-meeting in Vaxjö and the WP4-meeting in Bad Doberan. The authors discussed their cooperation and joint actions.
Milestone 3
Established telematik-cooperation for the planning of the studies carried out in WP4, presentation of the first study-results to all partners.Measurements: purchase of the measuring equipment for the first measuring project in Lithuania (measurements to be started in September 2004)
Technology study: presentation of the pre-study to the City of Rostock to get the required budget for the main study. The second study "Assessment of the Optimized Use of Windfarm potential" was finished in MS3.
Experience reports: visits in Estonia and Latvia to study the windenergy situation and to participate in seminars of the Tallinn Technical University, Saaremaa County Council in Kuresaare, press conference and seminar in Riga and a meeting with community planning office in Liepaja.
