Partner characterizationThe rural district of Bad Doberan is situated in the north of the federal Land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It forms a collar directly around the industrial and scientific centre of the Land - the Baltic port town and old Hanseatic city of Rostock. The total area of the district amounts to 1,362 square kilometres, of which 73.5% is agricultural acreage, 14.9% forest, 1.3% water area and 10.3% area used for infrastructure and building purposes. The economy is mainly influenced by the economic structures of the city of Rostock. Major branches are tourism, technology, services and trade. Agriculture plays an important role, too.
