Partner characterizationThe Regional Planning Association Mittleres Mecklenburg/Rostock is responsible for regional planning and regional development in the Mittleres Mecklenburg/Rostock region. The region is situated on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the northeast of Germany. The region covers an area of 3,600 square kilometres and has around 430,000 inhabitants. Members of the Planning Association are Güstrow County, Bad Doberan County and the Hanseatic City of Rostock. The Regional Spatial Planning Programme (regional plan) is cross-sectoral and long-term in character. It provides a binding framework for the more in-depth plans and local building statutes of the region’s cities and communities. Topics defined in the regional plan among other things include settlements, nature protection areas, mining areas, technical infrastructure and areas for the use of wind energy. A concept called Regionale Agenda MM/R sets the framework for sustainable development in the region. An analysis of strengths and weaknesses leads to a vision of the future development of the region. The Regionale Agenda MM/R also identifies projects to implement the RROP objectives. The Regional Planning Association is involved in several international activities such as tourism in rural areas and close cooperation with the Danish partner Storstrøms Amt. |
