Partner characterization

Rostock Regional Planning Association is constituted by the Hanseatic City of Rostock and the two counties of Bad Doberan and Güstrow. Its main responsibility is spatial planning at the regional level, which means setting a framework for local land-use plans and major building projects. The Regional Planning Office in Rostock has 9 employees, belonging to the state administration of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The office has been involved in planning and approval procedures for wind turbines since 1991. Rostock Region is one of the centres of wind power industry in Germany. The region has 420,000 inhabitants and covers an area of 3,600 sq km; more than 200 wind turbines are in operation.
